This exciting weekend workshop is suitable for those who are already familiar with lino cutting techniques and who want to add a new dimension to their practice. Over the 2 days you will create an A4 lino print using 2 or 3 lino blocks and combining both cut and etched marks. This will involve learning how to etch the lino block using a solution of caustic soda. You will learn how to register your multiple lino blocks so that they print over each other.

You will need to have an idea of your image to bring with you and it should involve some textural background areas and other, strongly defined elements.

All materials will be provided but you might like to bring along a packed lunch

Suitable for those who have some experience of Lino printing

Sunday 22nd May 2018

Tickets £65

Tutor: Lynne Blackburn
Venue: Craft Arena, Barleylands, Billericay, Essex

Join artist & printmaker Lynne Blackburn of Essex Print Studio for a one day ‘Monochrome Lino Printing’ workshop.

You will learn how to use the tools and inks used in linocut printing, and how to hand carve a design and take prints from it. Linocuts can be printed easily by hand or with a simple press.

Lynne will bring a number of designs based around a theme of  ‘Animals’ for you to choose from. 6 sheets of printmaking paper are included in the workshop price, with additional sheets available to buy if you would like to print more.

This is an ideal opportunity to learn the skills to create your own editioned prints, artist books, or posters. While this workshop will focus on paper prints, the techniques are ideal for use with fabrics and textile art

Mokulito Printing

Mokulito Printing

Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th June 2018

10.00am – 4.00pm

Early Bird Tickets £155 per person

Standard Tickets £165 per person

Tutor: Caroline Whitehead
Venue: Essex Print Studio

We are excited to offer this weekend workshop, which is suitable for both beginners and experienced printmakers.

Mokulito is a form of lithography and is a great technique for anyone who enjoys drawing and experimenting with different kinds of mark-making. Unlike in traditional lithography, which uses a stone or metal plate, for mokulito, the image is drawn on a plywood plate, offering the opportunity to make large prints relatively economically.

Caroline Whitehead has been working with mokulito for over five years, and is one of the few printmakers in the UK with extensive knowledge of this technique.

All materials will be provided but we suggest that you bring along a packed lunch. This class is limited to 5 places.

All orders are final and unfortunately we cannot issue any refunds, except in exceptional circumstances.

Screenprinting for Beginners

Saturday 16th June 2018

10.30am – 4.00pm

Standard Tickets £75 per person

Tutor: Lynne Blackburn
Venue: Essex Print Studio

This 1 day workshop is designed for complete beginners and those with some previous experience of screenprinting who want to refresh their knowledge.
You will learn how to use paper cut stencils and hand drawn painted marks directly onto the screen to create your design. You will also learn how to mix the inks, use the squeegee correctly, and how to pull a successful print.
We won't be using any digital processes at all, either to prepare our images or to expose them onto the screen, so bring along some design ideas which can be hand drawn, painted or cut from paper. We will be working at A4 size so prepare your images accordingly.
Bring some lunch with you and we will supply everything else you need.

If you would like to book with a group of 4 or 5 people contact us directly for a discount !
