Tutor: Lynne Blackburn
Venue: Essex Print Studio

This 1 day workshop is designed for complete beginners and those with some previous experience of screenprinting who want to refresh their knowledge.

You will learn how to use paper cut stencils and hand drawn painted marks directly onto the screen to create your design. You will also learn how to mix the inks, use the squeegee correctly, and how to pull a succesful print onto different types of paper.

We won't be using any digital processes at all, either to prepare our images or to expose them onto the screen, so bring along some design ideas which can be hand drawn, painted or cut from paper. We will be working at A4 size so prepare your images accordingly.

Solar Plate

Solar Plate Saturday

Saturday 15th July 2017

11am – 5pm

£70 per person

Tutor: Dawn Cole
Venue: Essex Print Studio

This 1 day workshop will introduce you to the 2 basic techniques used for solar plate etching; single and double exposure.

A solar plate (or photopolymer plate) is a steel plate coated with a light sensitive polymer layer. The plate is exposed to uv light (weather permitting using natural sunlight) and washed out in water. This environmentally friendly printmaking technique can be used to produce images that can be printed in both intaglio and relief using hand drawn images, photographs, natural materials, photocopies etc as the starting point to making a plate.

We recommend you bring a packed lunch with you but everything else you need will be provided.

Suitable for beginners and those with some experience.
